The Digital Transformation of Human Resources

The Digital Transformation of Human Resources “When digital transformation is done right, it’s like a caterpillar turning into a butterfly, but when done wrong, all you have is a really fast caterpillar.” – George Westerman   Digital transformation is the change businesses are going through to be able to use technology to solve problems. It has touched every aspect of your life.  ü   How the transformation of the Human Resources department affected employees? ü   Behind the scenes, HR has all of their data digitized, but what does this look like for the average staffer? The impact of the above begins with the job search. We don’t want to send in a paper resume anymore send it via email or enter your data directly into an applicant tracking system. You may have an "interview" with  a chatbot that uses artificial intelligence to ask  you basic questions. For example The Brookings Institute, HR revue’s AI attempts to predict a candid...

The role of Mission Vision and Value

Image
The role of Mission Vision and Value     Both Vision and Mission are related to an organization’s purpose and communicated in some written form. They are statements from the organization and that answer questions about who we are, what do we value, and where we’re going. According to the consulting firm Bain and Company reports, that 90% of the 500 firms surveyed issue some form of mission and vision statements. (Bart & Baetz, 1998). The organization with clearly communicated, widely understood, and collectively shared mission and vision have been shown to perform better than those without them, with the caveat that they related to effectiveness only when strategy and goals and objectives were aligned with them as well (Bart, et. al., 2001). Mission Statements communicate the organization’s reason for being, and how it aims to serve its key stakeholders. Customers, employees, and investors are the stakeholders most often emphasized, but other stakeholders...

The effects of human resource management                          practices on employee retention     “A process in which the employees are encouraged to remain with the organization for the maximum period of time or until the completion of the objectives” ( Singh & Dixit, 2011 , p. 442). Employee retention refers to the ability of an organization to retain its employees and also it is considered the heart of an organization's success. Employee retention can be represented by a simple statistic. The effective implementation of HR practices within the organization is the symbol of employee retention. It has become a critical issue in present, as companies complete for target in a tight economy. Approaches to Strategic Human Resource Management

Image
Approaches to Strategic Human Resource Management The main objective of strategic human resources management (SHRM) can be specified as “to ensure that human resource management is fully integrated into strategic planning, that HRM policies cohere both across policy areas and hierarchies and those HRM policies are accepted and used by line managers as part of their everyday work”  (Regis, 2009, p.6). Generally, the main approaches to SHRM are divided into three main categories: ü   Universalistic ü   Contingency ü   Configurationally Universalistic The universalistic or ‘best practice’ approach to HRM relates to the viewpoint that there is a set of best HRM practices and their adoption is going to generate positive results regardless of the circumstances associated with organizations. Universalistic approach states that ‘best practices concerning a wide range of HR issues such as employee recruitment and selection, training and development, employee motivati...

Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs theory applied to  HR in 2021 A braham Maslow’s theory argues that humans have a series of needs, some of which must be met before a human can turn their attention towards others. In 1943 paper titled “A Theory of Human Motivation” Maslow theorized that human decision-making is undergirded by a hierarchy of psychological needs. From the bottom of the hierarchy upwards, the needs are:                                                       Physiological                                                 Safe...
